Kanye Gets Me Through It

I've been in pain, been lazy, unmotivated, and undisciplined. Last night, Emily told me we needed to workout. I tried weaseling my way out of it, but the child just wasn't having it. So she trotted on the treadmill and I did swings, then switched with her and did a mile on the treadmill. It wasn't much but it was enough to spark something. She had started talking about how as she was walking, she already felt like a twig. Then she kind of patted her stomach. I realized right then and there that I was modeling some unhealthy behaviors. I stopped and told her that it's not about being a twig, or just losing weight and looking a certain way. I said it was about being healthy and strong. Period. She agreed and said "if you're healthy, you look good anyhow." My child is so much smarter than I'll ever be. Tonight, I went downstairs and put on the album that got me started all those years ago; almost 10 years now. Shortly after Emily was born, I grew a pair of balls and told my now ex that I didn't think it was unreasonable for him to watch Emily for an hour while I worked out. He wasn't happy about it. But I didn't care. That album, among others, was "Graduation" by Kanye West. Here's last night's work and tonight's.
