Old School Training 04/23/15

This week is an off week for the gym. So I decided to use the 2 extra days to get in some old school workouts. Like, real old school, as in pre-modern era. When I think of what our ancestors had to do just to live from day to day, it amazes me. It also makes me realize how weak we've become as a people. Being a heathen, this is just plain unacceptable. So over the past few days I've made it my mission to move a boulder that's standing in the way of my garden. I may be slightly insane, the jury's still out. I've made progress, but it's still in the hole.

However, the workout that I've gotten has been killer. With only a shovel and a pick axe it's worked me from legs to arms to core and cardio. Without moving move than a little that boulder has been one hel of an opponent. Physically it's a test. Mentally it's an even bigger one. At this point I could give up and bury that fucker, Odin knows the hole is deep enough. But all that would do is prove I'm easily defeated. My ancestors would be disappointed, my Gods would shake their heads and I would be pissed. So one way or another, that rock is getting moved. I may need to face the fact that I can't do it alone. That could be the lesson in this test (there's always a lesson). My sister might be enlisted to help, she doesn't know it yet though; it will be a workout for the both of us. :)

Heathens don't give up. We never have and this heathen never will. While I love busting ass in the gym, love the feeling of moving iron and pushing the bar, It's a good feeling to know you can also be strong in life. I can do things for myself, for the most part, and when I need to, I can enlist the help of other strong people. I'm not frail or delicate and life will not conquer me. Not today.

To all my fellow heathens out there, be strong in life. Do things the hard way. Remember where you come from, and what your ancestors went through to get you here. MAKE THEM PROUD!!!
