The plates made the presses a bit more challenging. I held them through the holes they have, sort of in a bottoms up fashion.
The first set of thrusters I did on a milkcrate, but that was too low for me. So I scrounged around and found an old chair and used that for the second set.
All the stuff I have is mix and match, some kettles some dumbbells, milk crates, cement blocks. But it all works. And I think the challenge of working with oddball stuff gives a slight advantage. Sometimes the weight is a little off balance (boulder and log) sometimes it's odd shaped and hard to hold (sandbag). It all makes you stronger physically and mentally. You can either quit because everything isn't as neat as a pin or you can adapt and overcome. ;)
